About TT International

TT is a global asset manager with 12 investment strategies and has offices in London, New York and Hong Kong.

TT International (TT) was founded by Tim Tacchi in 1988 to manage assets for a highly regarded global macro strategy. Two years later the firm began managing long-only equities, using the same basic philosophy of combining top-down views with bottom-up company analysis.

TT has continued to harness this philosophy to build a suite of award-winning long-only and alternative products. TT’s clients include some of the world’s most sophisticated institutional investors.

In 2020 TT was acquired by Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, a leading Japanese bank. The acquisition is a reflection of the growth potential of the firm, providing TT with a stable capital base and scope for future growth.

Top-down/bottom-up integration.

We recognise the intrinsic interplay between macro factors and individual company fortunes. Consequently, for over 30 years we have been integrating top-down and bottom-up research as a means of allocating capital. In our view, few competitors are able to successfully understand the world’s ever-changing macroeconomic and geopolitical environment and then identify specific companies that should benefit.

Alignment of interests

Our compensation is based on the performance we generate for clients and most of our investment professionals invest a significant proportion of their liquid assets in our products. In fact, many are the biggest personal investors in their own strategies. Clients can rest assured that we have skin in the game.

Focus

Dedicated solely to asset management, we deliberately limit our product range to areas where we possess a genuine competitive advantage and offer only authentically active, concentrated portfolios with 30-60 stocks and high active share. These portfolios in turn rely on focused investment processes and teams. Finally, our focus on a relatively small number of institutional investors means that each of our clients receives a bespoke service.

Capacity constrained

We limit capacity in all our strategies, allowing us to remain nimble and maximise our chances of delivering outperformance. Rather than simply being asset gatherers, we pride ourselves on our investment-led culture that focuses on doing what is right for existing clients.

Our ultimate aim is to produce attractive risk-adjusted returns and provide exceptional client service. Whilst this aim is not unusual amongst our peers, how we achieve it is. The following factors are why we believe we are truly differentiated from our competitors.
