Responsible Investment

Engagement

TT firmly believes that it is in the best interests of investors to be responsible in its approach to investment.  As active managers of focused portfolios, TT aims to engage with the management of all the companies owned on a regular basis. The purpose of such engagement is to ensure that management objectives and expectations are closely aligned with the investment goals of Fund investors.

Proxy Voting

TT uses leading proxy advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services for proxy voting requirements and hence complies with its proxy voting policies. TT also actively votes on all issues in every stock that it owns. Whilst TT is guided by ISS in this regard, the fund manager will always vote in what it believes are the clients' best interests. TT’s voting records for the most recently completed calendar year can be found here. Statistics for company engagement and voting disclosures are shown below:

Environmental, Social and Governance Issues

TT believes that investing in companies with strong and/or improving ESG metrics will help to produce superior long-term risk-adjusted returns for investors. Consequently, the fund manager analyses the ESG risks and indeed opportunities associated with every potential investment in the Fund. For more detail on how TT does this across its portfolios, please see TT’s ESG Policy. Importantly, the TT Head of ESG has remuneration targets reflecting the inclusion of a sustainable risk analysis framework within the investment approach as a firm. TT’s Analysts and Portfolio Managers in turn have explicit KPIs related to following TT’s investment processes. These processes include the incorporation of ESG risks and opportunities in their investment research.

TT is proud to be have been a signatory to the UNPRI since 2016. In addition, TT is also compliant with the Local Government Pension Scheme Advisory Board’s Code of Transparency, formally supports the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, and recently joined the Observer Group for the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures. TT is also supportive of the UK Stewardship Code - please see TT’s latest Stewardship Report.
